The various school expenses continue to add up and it can become too much for some families.

My biggest issue is the extra pair of shoes that the school requires, this is so eco-irresponsible, parents already buy rainboots, gym shoes, snow boots, running shoes, sandals and now we need to purchase an extra pair of indoor shoes that our young kids grow out of so quickly. For parents with more than one kid in school, do you realize how this cost adds up!
This adds to mindless consumerism, misplacement of resources and harming the environment, can't we just sweep up the floor? Kids love helping clean up, I'm sure every class can take an extra 5 minutes a day to sweep up take care of their classroom and put those school principles of citizenship and responsibility into action.

We buy school supplies that get sent back home because they dont need them, a second pair of shoes for indoor when there is a janitor to clean up (for the winter okay, but spring and fall?).
