We have experience the lack of acknowledgment by policy makers of the worth of disabled people, refelected in their lack of commitment to legislate for their ongoing support needs, and the fact that they want be seen to be doing something but really only prop up employment figures with poorly administered, and inadequate funding. Our son lived 16 years with a terrible degenerative disorder and he kept falling through gaps in the system an we were unfairly imposed upon due to lack of good government to live in a poverty trap and deal with horrendous red tape while trying to access supports for our boy and ourselves. We felt terribly slighted by the system in spite of the fact that we were dedicated and loving carers who sacrificed our earning capacity and long term savings in order to care for him in a way that was worthy of him. My purpose in setting up this petition is to see disabled people and their carers honoured for the difficulties they live with not pushed over the edge by an unjust system.
