1420 first all cannot sustain us as interns:
1. we have to come to work everyday, no matter what, unlike a student who follow the time tables!
2. we are to wear formal clothing which is very expensive to afford.
3. personal needs, we have to look presentable everyday,(hair,toiletries and staff)
4. growing up means more responsibilities. our families expect us to help them with this and that.

As interns we are expected to wear formal EVERYDAY! hence we cannot be compared to university student.P1420 s too little
2.we travel to work everyday:university only go on days of classes unless otherwise
3.Once we have graduated and dressed in our black gowns parents start expecting us to help them hence bills are split.
P2000 is also not enough but we have come to terms with it.

our expenses should be taken care off, you stay in Gaborone, rent is 600 bucks, transport to and from work is 500bucks monthly, toiletry is 300 bucks, literally you are left with nothing. and you dont have nothing to buy yourself any formal attire to go to work, you dont have cash for food at home and work. we are just heading to poverty, it is not fair. we need increase not reduction. atleast P2600.

I do not understand how we can be compared to students when we work 5 -6 days of the week and also have to dress professionally as well. Government (MLHA) has to rethink this decision, and they need to get their facts straight - the cost of living is very high. Batsadi ba rona believe gore re a bereka and re a duelwa when we are not. Its painful when we can't even afford basic toiletries )-;

Cutting of the Internship allowance by Botswana government was a bad move.Reasons being that-Despite the government saying graduates should apply for internship where they have accommodation this would have made the program unproductive because most of the interns are from villages of where their carriers won't be utilized.Now most if not all interns are placed in towns knowing that they will get a monthly allowance of 2000 which can support to pay for rent and be able to support themselves.An average intern spend P700 rent,P294 transport,P700 food monthly and toiletry there is also need for them to have something to put on of which still they were living on a negative while the allowance was at P2000 per month.

The allowance is just inadequate for the needs of a worker for thats what we are. Transport 5 days a week, a wardrobe that matches the standards of the positions we hold and above all the amount of work we do is instrumental. The least you can do is leave our allowance as it was for we learnt to live within those means. Why do you hate the youth? Why are we being punished for doing our duty diligently and attaining our qualifications? Be reasonable..it is all we ask.

To tell the truth, I personally fell that thins internship program has proven to be a failure because there are NO controls and it has bad impact on us graduates. For examples, there are many private companies here in Botswana that are really enjoy the fruits of free labor while the company owners are cashing a fat cheque every month. another thing is this reduction, how to you cut someone's income ka P600? all prices have one up, food, toiletry, transport etc. olready we were trying so hard to make ends meet with that P1800.00. Again how do you tell people on the last day that you have reduced their income? Our government is not taking us serious, I sometimes wonder why they waste a lot of money educating us, for to suffer like this
