After looking R and L repeatedly and quickly, I still say a quick prayer and shoot out to the inside lane on JMR. Myself and my family have been saved numerous times by the 2nd land when a vehicle or bike suddenly appears despite my visual checks. Don't take away my backup lane to swerve into when a vehicle or bicycle comes hurtling down JMR. Bicycles are going just as fast as vehicles, and that is not because they are unduly reckless, the road is unduly steep. To think you can get everyone slow down by making it harder to navigate is only going to cause more accidents. I'm a road biker and a car driver, we need to have freedom in our lanes! I can also attest that there is a very large shoulder (as wide as a full car lane) on the entire stretch of JMR).

As a twenty-year resident of my neighborhood, and as a cyclist who is likely to be commuting soon via Joaquin Miller, I believe this is an ill-advised action, and I oppose it. - Joaquin Miller gets quite crowded at times, especially so for Woodminster events. One-laneing this major road seems bound to cause for residents of my neighborhood to access their homes.
- I do not see enough bicycle traffic on Joaquin Miller to adequately make use of entire lane.

If the issue is speeding, then install speed bumps. Narrowing the road won't limit speeding until the road becomes congested, and a congested road is both unsafe and an annoyance. Yes, people speed down this hill. Putting in one additional stop sign between Skyline and Mountain is a possibly, with the added bonus of giving pedestrians a place to safely cross the street (the crosswalks are horrendously dangerous). This would break up the downhill slalom.

There is enough traffic for 2 lanes here. Having only one would create a possible traffic nightmare if one person is confused going down the hill.

Please consider other options.

Don't try to dress this as a need for cyclists. There is a parallel route through Butters Canyon that would only require signage for cyclists.

There's got to be alternatives for calming the traffic!

I travel the road daily and the traffic if lanes were to be reduced by 1/2 would be disastrous and create traffic snarls. I do not see the volume of bicycle traffic to merit this change. There are simply not enough bicycles to justify this. If the goal is to slow down traffic, please consider other more common sense options. Furthermore, with all of the traffic funneled into one lane, it will be even more difficult for those turning left onto JM road from Robinson and other side streets.
