I've seen them all over since last summer. Last Wed, they were trying to stay warm up against the Wendy's building on Sandusky St. I went through the drive thru to get some lunch. Drove back around and asked him if his dog had food (yes). I noticed all the blankets he had were wrapped around his dog. I asked if he had anywhere to go for the night since the temp was dropping and was going to be MINUS TWENTY with wind chill overnight. He said he may have a place, I asked if he needed blankets (no), then I asked if he was hungry...and he said "Yes ma'am", so I went through the drive thru again, bought his lunch and a cup of water for his dog. He was so grateful, said he was starting a new job last Mon. I haven't seen them since the encounter, I hope they are ok. He seemed like a really nice guy. If I had a detached garage at my house, I would have let him stay there that night. We need to take care of each other.

We do need a homeless shelter. Family Promise does a wonderful job, but not everyone qualifies for their services. They have nowhere to go. The only thing we have is family promise but if you dont have children you cant stay there.

If they lived just one county away, they would have resources and shelters to help them. I think the need for this help is higher in Delaware County than most people realize.
