I've graduated college work an associates degree over a year ago. I have my second child on the way and have no extra income to provide for them because of my school loans accommodate for half of my budget. I can't get a job in my field solely because of my criminal background. I pay taxes, work sixty hours a week, and don't break the law. Why does my punishment continue to haunt me? Why am i being judged for a crime that isn't even relevant in almost half the country? I just want to move forward in my life being productive in society and being the best father i can be for my family. It's an outrage that i can pay my fines, go through treatment, fulfill my probation requirements, then pay $50k for a degree that is useless in helping me go anywhere, and still be considered scum of society. I'm a good person and nobody should be marked for life. The point of all this allows me to believe that the government would rather me be a criminal so i can have tax payers provide for me to live in prison more comfortably than i can honestly provide for my own family.

They try and try to find decent jobs and are turned down which is a cycle because these people need to live and pay for food like the rest of us and if they are qualified and willing to work, why not let then work? Why keep them in welfare or disability it stealing or selling drugs then most likely using drugs? And being back in jail? This cycle is costing us all criminal and non-criminal in a stupid redundant cycle that we are all paying for. I say if they're non-violent crimes and say, 10 years has gone by since the last charge, clear the record so the ones that want to work can work. They're less of a burden to tax payers this way.
