Am I not one of your customers?
I was not asked what bank I wanted and after browsing various internet forums, I can tell you that your other customers have not been asked either.

If you'd had the curtsey to ask me, I would have have told you that I am completely satisfied with the Free Banking For Life Account with was offered and accepted by myself, and that I do not want to change thank you.

If I'd needed something other, I would have changed to either a different account or bank.

I am happy with the value you have delivered to date, and I know not of any research directed at myself which has highlighted anything as being important to me. Please provide me with the information you say has highlighted this, specifically to me.

Further more, I do not carry out any transactions at post offices as the current arrangement is more than convenient for my business needs.

We are finding it hard enough to keep the business afloat in the present economic climate, without having to find more money to keep going.

It begs the question whether it is better to fold the business, and go on the dole, that way we would not have the continual worry as to whether we will stay solvent, or whether we will go bust.

What with the scandals of the rate fixing. the huge bonuses given, and the general apathy by the banks to lend money to the business sector, Santander should hang their heads in shame.

When they bought out Abbey, if they did not budget the "free banking for life" into the purchase price, they only have themselves to blame. Dont blame hard working businesses who dont get given "huge bonuses", or large amounts of shares, but are merely trying to make ends meet!.

I was informed by letter by a Mr Robin Foale (Managing Director) Santander in July that this agreement was worthless and that they were going to renege on that promise. I immediately rang to speak to Mr Foale but I never have been able to speak to him.
I since have received a written response from them that simply states "we can make changes to your account by giving 60 days notification" I understand that but when I have challenged Santander complaints department to define the words "forever" and "free" I have received no real satisfactory answer.
I think is is appalling that one can offer something "free" and "forever" to 500,000 customers and then renege on that agreement to generate something approaching £45 million in income.
I am of a generation that trusted a bankers word, I now find that a bankers word is worth absolutely nothing and the promise of "Business banking free forever" was simply a marketing slogan designed to trap the unwary. It is not worthy

When research has been done to find a suitable bank account, then to have them in effect close the account without my consent, and open a new account in which I have to pay, when I signed up for "Free banking for Life" totally Stinks.

Dont forget Santander, it is the tax payer, of which small business are tax payers, who saved the banking sector. Now it is your turn to save the "small businesses".

This is just another way to squeeze money out of businesses who have been hit by the poor economy - caused by - yes you guessed - the banks.
