But this reminds me of the Ashley Smith case in Ontario where the powers that be prevented the caregivers from the giving the proper medical treatment. Mental health patients do not belong in prison - they need compassionate medical assistance, not abusive confinement. There is obviously much wrong with the medical and legal process in this country. I hope that someone or a responsible orginization can take up this urgent need for those who are unable to look after themselves through no fault of their own.

The people responsible should be held to account for their decisions and the current policies evaluated for their validity and effectiveness. The Interior Health Authority should want answers too!
