All that is needed is integrity and the political will to fairly direct resources to benefit everyone. After all a majority of vulnerable people trusted you enough to vote for your government.

20 years ago we had a personal income top
tax rate of 60% on much lower levels than
the 47% now. Get rid of all the loop-holes
which the rich employ. Get rid of Negative
Gearing, get rid of Super-Annuation tax

To assist old folks like us to stay in the family home include it in the assets test over an apt free threshold, continue the pension as capital drawdowns secured by reverse 1st mortgage with interest @ variable RBA rates. Recover capital + interest for we taxpayers on sale or death. This is fair to all even the vultures I've seen in my accounting practice sitting on the death bed!

Withdraw the obscene funding of the miners with OUR tax money and use that to pay for the services which we want, need and have already paid for. THAT is the function of government, NOT funding big business. We have an AAA rating, no one is dopey enough to believe the proposed cuts and taxes are so necessary, any changes should be gradual or it WILL PRECIPITATE the crisis the government is saying we have now. Where is the common sense in all of this fear mongering? Non existent. It’s just a cover for supporting their willing and coercive enslavement to big business to fund their re-election. I understand that these are lean times and we all have to contribute a bit but don't you think it is time that we asked Polititians to look in their own backyard. One thing that would save this country thousands is if polititians were given one years pay when they leave service which should be enough to give them time to find another job. Then they are on their own! Most of them have other forms of income by that stage anyway and a superannuation better than any average person. I don't think we need to keep supporting them....no-one else gets that privilege!!

Cuts should be directed at waste, e.g.in defence spending, exhuming and identifying WW I casualties (I'm sure they would prefer the money to be spent on helping live veterans now). Concentration on elite sport brings vainglory, psychological damage and little gain. Encourage more gardening and landcare by young and old. Re-introduce "sin taxes" on alcohol and tobacco.

I have always been concerned that the rich are getting very rich and those on middle, lower and very low incomes are getting poorer. My greatest concern years ago was to hear a very wealthy man spruke on tv that he pays his taxes. He failed to add that with his millions/year personal income he paid about 2/3 of the tax in $ that I paid and my salary at the time was well under 90K pre tax which supported a large family and helped others. This is obscene and not acceptable in Australia. I would suggest that a flat tax per head of say of 5%-10% on all incomes whether derived in Australia or overseas would help to sort out the inequity of the current situation and ensure that the wealthy pay their share to support others who cannot pay even a fraction of their low income for tax. ie old age pensioners, disabled,etc.

Leave Pensioners alone. We worked dam hard in our life time, and paid taxes. Take the highly paid pensions and benefits off all Ex Politicians. Mr Hockey, DON"T WORRY ABOUT GETTING BACK IN THE BLACK. Make Gina Rhinehart and people like her pay more taxes and get no benefits. Cut the wages of all CEO'S drastically. GET RID OF STATE GOVERNMENTS. Do not introduce the Paid Maternity leave. Cut benefits to all Politicians. Leave Medicare alone. Do not cut spending to schools or the disabled. Put money into more dams to stop water going out to sea, especially in the six Major Rivers of North Queensland. so that water can be diverted to the Western parts of Queensland, and build hydro- schemes into these river systems. Dredge these rivers and stop some of the Major Flooding. Give more money and funding to our Local Councils. Set up more Tafe and Training Centers for our Teenagers when they leave school. Get the unemployed to work in places like Meals on Wheels, Hacc, Home Assist etc etc.

The gap between rich and poor in Australia is becoming larger. Many of the measures being discussed will further increase this gap and reduce the productivity of our country. Please don't make education, especially TAFE colleges, more expensive. A well educated workforce will create more wealth and reduce our deficit in time.
