His 16 year old girlfriend preformed oral sex on him and her mother found out and pressed charges. He was sentenced to 4 years in prison, then told he had to register as a sex offender for the next 10 years. He completed both terms of his punishment. He met a girl who he dated for 8 years and they have a 5 year old son. When they broke up, she moved with their son to Ohio. My fiance followed after them, without knowing anything about Megan's Law, he never registered. After living in Ohio for 4 years, the police showed up at our door and arrested him for failing to register. He was taken to jail and bond was set at $100,000.00 cash. He waived his preliminary hearing and they let him out of jail after 2 weeks of holding him on his on recognizance. His case is now being sent to the grand jury in about 6 weeks. He has to pay an attorney in TN to file a motion for release from registration before the grand jury hears his case or he will be facing prison. This is an unfair situation and I feel he is being punished twice for a crime which happened over 20 years ago.

So instead of looking forward to completing to then go on with my life, I now look forward to nothing but heartache, disappointment , and failure. Since leaving prison, I have not been able to maintain employment, depression and other health issues, and the nightmares of other peoples judgements, not to mention the harassment that my children have dealt with from other children at school. My family and I believe the new revisions to Megan's Law are unconstitutional due to the fact they are a complete invasion to privacy in so many aspect. It was set up to protect people, and that's not what its doing anymore.

This is just unconstitutional since we have a written and signed contract from the judge over 10 yrs ago. This law should not be retroactive, it should start for all the new offenders.
