Save Sunnyside North Beach

Sunnyside North Beach Mt Eliza needs to remain a clothing optional beach.

Sunnyside North beach has been a clothing optional beach in Metropolitan Melbourne for more than 35 years. More than 3 decades! It is now part of our culture and heritage. For years, families and friends have peacefully and quietly enjoyed the freedom to swim, sunbathe or walk along the sand without the restrictions of clothes. The beach is clothing optional, so no one is forced to be naked.

The beach is very secluded and private with relatively difficult access so it is unlikely that anyone would accidently find themselves confronted by a nude person unless they deliberately made their way to the beach.

There is currently a push by Mornington Peninsula Shire Council to recommend to the State Government of Victoria Planning Minister that the legal clothing optional status of this beach be revoked.

The Nudity (Prescribed Areas) Act 1983 provides that the Minister, after consultation with the Council, may prescribe an area where nudity is permitted, or may revoke that previous approval. The Mornington Peninsula Shire Council and the Planning Minister need to leave Sunnyside North beach as clothing optional.

During Covid, many of us had so many of our freedoms removed or restricted. Now, there is an unnecessary push to remove yet another of our freedoms.

We believe that removal of the current legal right to be free of clothes on Sunnyside North beach would be in breach of Section 19 of the Victorian Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities, and we are prepared to take action to fight for what is right.

Loss of this clothing optional beach would leave only two clothing optional beaches in Victoria, both near Torquay, far away from Metropolitan Melbourne.

PLEASE HELP US TO SAVE THE BEACH BY SIGNING OUR PETITION

You can help us to fight for the right to be clothes free at Sunnyside North Beach. Even if this is not something that you would do yourself, please support those for whom this is an important freedom to maintain.

Ban Mobiles/Gadgets in School

A School is a temple of knowledge. A place where everlasting friendships are made. A place where memories are created. A place which students call it their second home. A place we all will fondly remember for the rest of our lives.

Breaks, before and after school were the best times to catch up with friends and play whatever we liked to. However the scenario today is quite different. What we see lately is children with their heads down, staring at their phones oblivious of the world around. Students prefer to browse through social networking sites and play online games during breaks rather than interact with others.

Students have limited interaction with peers and teachers outside class. While technology has been a gift to mankind in a lot of ways, students are cursed with the side effects of the same technology.

Do we want to see our children grow up as loners and addicts? I am sure a lot of Parents and Students are aware of the ill effects of mobiles/gadgets but some might justify that carrying mobiles is for emergency. This school has a phone which can be used by students in case of an emergency. Also, there are various other communication channels already in place. So is there a real need for to carry phones?

Many schools around the world have already banned mobile phones in school for Students, the latest being France. We should be worried why we haven't thought of this as yet. We as responsible citizens of the world should take measures to protect our children from being addicted to technology at a young age and end up having a future with no real relationships and memories what so ever.

Please support me in this cause. Lets do what's best for our children and ban MOBILES & GADGETS at school.

Save our Doughboy!

The New Castle Memorial Park Board and the Henry County Commisioners are moving forward and planning on moving the restored (in progress) Doughboy Memorial located on the north end of Memorial Park on SR 3 to the parking lot of the Smith Auditorium upon completion of the restoration.
This monument has been a symbol of not only our military but a welcoming beacon while entering our City from the North for years.
Restoration is great! Moving the location is not. Remove not the old landmarks!

Save Our Goats: Elvis, Levi, Blake, and Luke

We have four wethered Nigerian Dwarf goats that have lived with us since June. They are disbudded and castrated, which means these goats are not for profit. These goats are so attached to us, they would surely go into a deep depression if forced to leave their home. Our babies are the size of a medium to large dog, much quieter, and very clean. They are well behaved and trained. They have their own barn. It is safe and warm. Our boys go for walks and hikes, no leashes are required. If we walk, they walk; if we stop, they stop. They love car rides, and trips to the park. They are so much more than goats. They are truly our family! They even love to sit on your lap. Our town is concerned if they should be allowed to be kept as pets. I have created this petition as an attempt (with your help) to demonstrate just how well cared for they are, and to show they are not by any means your average goats. These boys know commands and obey. They will run, walk, come, stay, and even poop/pee on command. (Which is helpful before getting in the car!) Parents, children, family, friends, strangers, police officers, etc. are amazed at what our goats are like. Local business owners even invite the boys in to visit while we are out walking. We have people from all over come to our house, just to show their children the goats. We just need an opportunity to respectfully show the town what we (and you) already know. We would be devastated if they have to leave us. Our boys would never survive living as typical barn goats elsewhere, they are too used to their current spoiled, royalty lifestyle. This is a fact! Goat depression is a real thing. Please help save our babies!

Bring Back Vin Scully to Call the World Series

Vin Scully has been the iconic voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers for generations. The 2017 Dodgers have been a special team and just booked their ticket to the World Series. It would be fitting to have Vin Scully come back to call the games in Los Angeles for one last series. I hereby request that the Los Angeles Dodgers organization extend the invitation to the greatest. Bring back Vin so #ThisTeam can be graced with the voice that built the Ravine.

Pootie Pads on The Ellen Show!

What are pootie pads? They are quilted pads stuffed with A-grade catnip (for cats) or lavender and thyme (for dogs).

Pootie Pads is a cottage industry created and run by two sisters, Sara and Ann, from their home which we affectionately call Catnip Manor. Their business supports themselves and their beautiful cats. They'd like to expand their business and employ others. But to achieve that aim, they first need a much higher public profile.

An interview spot on "The Ellen Show" would be purrfect! Pootie pads bring joy and comfort to cats and dogs - and Ellen and Portia have three cats and three dogs in their family so they are very aware of their furkids' needs and wishes.

Please sign this petition to help us bring this idea to the attention of "The Ellen Show" producers. We fervently believe it will charm the socks off the audience!
