Yobe State is one of the three states in North East Nigeria. It suffers serious devastation from the effect of war caused by Boko Haram.
Recently the State Government announced that it will construct a cargo airport in the State Capital-Damaturu as disclosed by the state Commissioner of Works, Transport and Energy, Mr. Sirajo Wakil.
Obviously. this is not of any relevance to the 'voiceless' masses of the state who are suffers- poverty, lack of education, good healthcare etcetera.
This petition is designed to collect 100,000 signatures from the indigenes, residents and well wishers of the state so as to draws the attention of the Government to reverse it decision.
We specifically ask for the funds to be used in constructing Modern Markets (at Geidam, Gashua, Potiskum, Damaturu), renovation of dilapidated Secondary Schools, Hospitals and yhe siting of a Gum Arabic Plantation in the land meant for the airport.
We, the undersigned, call on the Yobe State Government of Nigeria not to construct a cargo airport.
