Persons of Indian origin who have acquired Foreign citizenship are required to surrender their Indian Passports to the nearest Indian Mission immediately after acquisition of foreign citizenship. A fee for renouncing Indian citizenship/surrender of Indian passport is chargeable.
This is unfair and should not force this upon those thousands who have taken up Canadian citizenship and to those who are waiting to accept the Canadian citizenship. The migrants are already reeling under all other fee increases by the Indian govt and now this is too much extortion by a government.
We hereby request the Indian Consulate to withdraw the fees which is implemented for surrendering the Indian passport after acquiring foreign citizenship.
