MBJJF REQUEST THAT THE MINISTRY OF YOUTH AND SPORTS REINSTATE & GET BACK ITS STATUS OF NATIONAL FEDERATION.
MBJJF was recognised as a NATIONAL SPORTS FEDERATION under the Sports ACT 2013. Under the new Sport act 2016, the MBJJF status of FEDERATION was removed and replaced by ORGANISATION which is leading MBJJF licensees to an uncertain future.
The withdrawal of the recognition is making the MBJJF running the risk of no longer being recognised by the International federation SJJIF (Sports Jiu-Jitsu International Federation) as they only accept National federations. Should the SJJIF (Sports Jiu-Jitsu International Federation) no longer recognise MBJJF; we ask the question - Will the Ministry Sports in Mauritius still grant us assistance as they also request us to be recognised by an international federation?
With these amendments MBJJF is running the risk of being discarded by the two most important bodies that predominantly contribute to the development of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Mauritius.
We have passionately developed BJJ for Mauritius in readiness to be a front runner in the African diaspora and worldwide in the imminent acceptance to International Federation. The change to the Sports Act has detrimentally impacted on BJJ and poses the destructive unravelling of all the advances and recognition achieved over the past years. Under the status of Federation we received recognition and have been able to successfully develop and raise the profile of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) both nationally as well as achieve success on an International platform for Mauritius. Mauritian BJJ athletes will not be able to be accepted for international tournaments despite the past success of our members who have proudly returned to Mauritius with medals from past international competitions. This is truly a major setback and an injustice to our sport and the athletes whose tireless efforts have made such advancements to date. MBJJF is not a dormant federation.

Today all our Hardwork has been put on hold because of the amendment of the Sports ACT 2016
Today we are penalised as we are not an International Olympic Game….
Do we need now to choose to practice only Olympic Sports to be supported by the Government !!?? WHERE DOES SPORTS FOR ALL STANDS HERE??!!!
