On Saturday December 5th, 2015, Sahara Reporters, a well respected media organisation reported that Senator Dino Melaye has been operating a foreign bank account in violation of the code of conduct for public officials in Nigeria.
The serving Senator was reported to have been operating a current account with account number 4460 1649 8396 and a regular savings account with account number 4460 1647 5966 with Bank of America in the state of Maryland.
One of the last transactions on the account took place on December 4th as he approved payment for a transaction relating to the purchase of cosmetics from a Kremlin-based MagnitKosmetik store. Also, on September 1, Mr. Melaye approved payment to a New York-based Schweiger Dermatology.
We, the undersigned, call on the Code of Conduct Bureau to immediately investigate Senator Dino Melaye for violating the code of conduct for public officials by operating a foreign bank account and to prosecute him at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
