His Excellency Vice Admiral Sir Adrian James Johns KCB, CBE, KStJ, ADC - Governor of Gibraltar
Region:
Gibraltar

Since the tearing up of the 1999 Fishing Agreement, there has been a clear lack of action taken by the Royal Gibraltar Police and the Royal Navy in enforcing Gibraltarian Law and tackling the completely illegal incursions by the Guardia Civil in British Gibraltar Territorial Waters.

It is generally understood that this is mainly to do with the UKs wish to avoid any sort of political confrontation with a fellow EU member or NATO ally.

We, the Gibraltarian people, are fed up with the constant aggressive and belligerent behaviour of our neighbour and the constant appeasement and inaction by those required by our constitution to defend us and Gibraltars territorial and political integrity. This includes the complete lack of any political will to tackle the issues which constitute oppression by the Kingdom of Spain towards Gibraltar and its people.

We are British Citizens. If this happened in waters off the UK, the response would be different. This is where the Governors attitude is wrong. The waters around Gibraltar are British - if you do not enforce it as such over time we will lose it.

We, the people of Gibraltar, as British Citizens, urge the Governor of Gibraltar in his official capacity as the de facto Head of State to cease the policy of appeasement and inherent lack of action by the Royal Gibraltar Police and Royal Navy in the face of constant Spanish illegal incursions by the Guardia Civil in British Gibraltar Territorial Waters.

It is utterly disgraceful that the British establishment continues to allow this continued oppression of its subjects overseas and the challenge to its authority to remain unanswered.

The Urging the Governor to act in maintaining the Integrity of British Gibraltar Territorial Waters - Defenders of Gibraltar petition to His Excellency Vice Admiral Sir Adrian James Johns KCB, CBE, KStJ, ADC - Governor of Gibraltar was written by Gareth Ronald Gingell and is in the category International Affairs at GoPetition.
