Looking at all the campaigns, specials and services offered to South African customers of DStv, we feel that DStv does not appreciate the support of the Namibian customers!

We pay more for our subscription than the South African customers do and we are never considered in their campaigns, specials and promotions.

I have contacted DStv on their Facebook page stating the following:

"Don't you that it is a bit unfair that only SA always gets specials and offers and campaigns, ect? We in Namibia are also paying our buttoms off to support you, but all the good stuff is always only available in SA. We pay the same amount as them. When are you going to appreciate your Namibian customers as well? It is not that we are only a few people which supports you, there are thousands of Namibians with DStv in their homes. I would like to hear your thoughts on this."

Their reply was:

" Hi , we have plenty of competitions for Namibians as well please see below:
MultiChoice Namibia - Ongoing Competition Campaigns:.." and they gave me the information of all the ongoing competitions.

I have then replied that we are not interested in competitions, (what are the chances of winning in any case), but we would rather also have some benefits like their South African customers.

This was what they had to say about that:

" You can only win if you take part...do you know what every winner always says? "I have never won anything in my life before"! SA has population size of 52 million people and with that there are certain advantages, its called economy of scale. Namibia only was 2 million people, it is unrealistic to compare ourselves with SA. MultiChoice Namibia does it's best to make its subscribers happy. "

My opinion is that they do not give a damn about the Namibian customers and I get the feeling they feel that they do not need our support or money.

Everybody is complaining about the high monthly subscription they have to pay and then the programs get repeated time after time, all seasons of certain series starting over and over. We would appreciate if DStv could also look into this matter, but I do not want to make this the priority.

My goal which I want to achieve with this petition is that we can also get some benefits like the South African customers. Like for instance, we would also like to get opportunity to trade in our old decoders for the new Explora's and only pay a certain amount, instead of having to buy a Explora at full price of N$2500, which is the cheapest in Namibia. We would also like to take part in the Price Lock campaign which they have launched for their South African customers.

We have to pay increased subscriptions year after year, so that the South African customers have the option to get a chance to participate in Price Lock, and receive the benefit of not paying interest on their subscription for 24 months!

I know that it is everybody's own choice if they are willing to pay this amount for this service, but it is available to us to enjoy. But just like the South African customers, we Namibians also work hard to earn money to be able to enjoy this bit of luxury, so why do we have to settle for the crumbs?

Like they say, Namibia only have 2 million people, but take away that 2 million crumbs and tell me again that you won't feel it!

The plan is that the undersigned do not pay their subscription for three (3) months, in order to prove that the Namibian customers also play a role in the success of their business. Please note that you will not be able to make use of this service for this mentioned period. As of 30 June 2016 to 30 Septmber 2016, we do not pay our DStv subscription.

The deadline for the signing of the petition will be on 15 June 2016. This petition will then be send to DStv Head Office on 16 June 2016.

We, the undersigned, call upon DStv to please give our Namibian customers some benefits as well, like for instance to be able to participate in the trading in of our decoders as well as to be able to participate in the Price Lock campaign.

We understand that South Africa will always have more benefits than Namibia, but we want DStv to take the Namibian customers more into consideration. South Africans get more benefits and pay less than Namibian customers.

Should you not be able to give us positive feedback with a plan of action, we will refuse to pay our DStv subscription for three (3) months. We understand that we will not be able to make use of this service for this mentioned period, but we want to prove that the Namibian customers also play a role in the success of your business.
