In July 2012 the Municipalities of North Grenville and North Dundas resurfaced Boundary Road from a gravel road to hard top. Since the completion of the upgrade the heavy load traffic on Boundary Road has increased by 100% at the rate of 1 truck every 15 minutes.

Primarily the neighbouring aggregate pit’s dump trucks and tandem dump trucks have been redirected from Bennett (west) and Highway 22 (north) to Bennett (east) and Boundary Road (north). This route is on a more populated stretch of roads as opposed to the previous route.

The residents have several concerns including: increased risk to health and safety, in particular to our children; more difficult egress and ingress to and from properties due to the high speed of truck traffic and blind sections of the road; adverse effect on property values; a disruption to the peace and quiet of country living.

In addition, the newly completed road is already showing evident signs of wear only after a few weeks of heavy load traffic (e.g., wash boarding and potholes between different road surfaces).

Last but not least, the farmers use the Boundary Road to conduct their agricultural business and there is clearly not enough room for both farming equipment and large trucks to share the road.

We, the undersigned, call on the municipalities of North Grenville and North Dundas to have the following roads designated for local and agricultural traffic only: Bennett Road and Boundary Road north of Bennett Road and Clarke Road.
