TrackN4 Middelburg / Witbank Consession toll increase

Staying in Middelburg and working in Witbank brings forth its own logistical issues. From my home its almost 50km to my place of employment (Samancor Ferrometals), just outside Witbank. We have an agreement with the Toll Plaza to pay a concession for a frequent / local user. This fee is currently R18.30 per trip. Without this concession, the cost is over R50 per trip. There is an alternative back road (single lanes) but road safety comes into question. Loads of trucks drive the road to avoid the high toll fees. People working in the same department often carpool to keep costs down. This has a lot of other benefits as well. Government also urges us to make use of carpools. Now, you need to drive atleast 30 trips through the tollgate to be eligible for the concession. This was never the case. Now people are forced to either drive alone, which increases costs dramatically or drive the alternative routes which are very unsafe, which in turn also reduces the income for the Toll Plaza. If you do not do 30 trips a day in your registered vehicle, you will be liable for a cost of R47 per trip. Which is a 256% increase in cost on the toll fees alone.
