The Council said I have impacted on the green belt by cutting into the land at one end by 80cm down to 4cm at the other end of the land to make the ground level to start building. The building is the same height as the old building.

I applied for 200 square meter of internal space which was granted by the council. The new building is 197 square meters external so I am within 200 square meters.

I have used recycled materials where possible, the walls under the cladding are recycled pallets and all power in the building lighting will be led. I have not impacted on the green belt. The new building looks so much better than the old metal framed barn, and is in keeping with the green belt. I live in the green belt and would not harm it.

This new studio will benefit local and international artists, video productions, recording artists who would like to record live as in the past, engineers and producers, and people in the music and film business, and local businesses, including Hotels, B&B, Pubs, Restaurants, take aways, taxis, and all other local businesses.

I didn’t want to play on the fact that I am in a wheel chair as I don’t think about it and all my friends treat me as just a mate with no disability, but the council have not taken into account that I have built this studio for people with disabilities with easy access to all parts of the building and easy parking.

If you would like to support me in keeping my new production, rehearsal, and recording studio - and writing rooms - from being demolished please sign this petition.

To all the people who have supported me Many Thanks.

Recently I have been turned down by the appeal office, but there is one more option. If this fails the building will have to come down.

The latest news (1 November 2014): Unfortunately, all the people who signed the petition & the letters of support together with the Artists and businesses which would befit from a new studio, have had little influence with Wiltshire County Council, Holt Parrish and the Appeal officer.

The following are reasons why the appeal failed and the impact they say I have made on the green belt.

Altering the land.
The bund which very few people know about was to keep any noise from affecting the cottage adjacent to the land. The wall is only 80cm high for about 60 feet and was to protect the trees from damage. If I had sloped the bank, the tree roots would have been damaged. I levelled the land because the existing barn was built on a slope. The other reason was for it to be disabled friendly.

Domestic fenestration, which impacts the green belt.
I built windows in the rear elevation. The council do not agree with this, even though they cannot be seen from any public highway/ pavement etc.
If i had kept the old barn style and added walls the Council would have been happy for me to do this. The irony is, the council would let me have storage and distribution leading to more traffic.

This is a quote from the Appeal Officer.

19. There is no evidence to indicate that the Appellant investigated the
Possibility of creating a larger recording facility elsewhere, potentially outside the Green Belt or in a nearby urban area; Trowbridge is only about two kilometers from the appeal land. The building is convenient to his home but the Appellant would need, in any event, assistance crossing the road and that assistance could be in the form of driving him to a facility in another location. The benefit to the local economy would accrue if the facility was to be located in a nearby urban area and any new recording facility would be required to be accessible to the disabled.

Anybody who knows me knows this is clear discrimination. I have never needed help to cross the road, and I do not need to be driven.
