The FEI have implemented some changes to the FEI Horse registration. Any horses using what the FEI considers a commercial prefix, and not the breeding prefix listed on the passport from birth, will be charged at the commercial rate of £979 in addition to any FEI registration or passport charges.

We are asking in this petition for the FEI to review this article immediately. The additional costs are a step to far and only making it harder for businesses, riders and owners alike to continue in a sport that is already struggling.

If the owner cannot pay the additional £979 then they are forced to drop the prefix from the name. This seems unfair, as they should be allowed to call the horse what ever they choose, with out being penalised.

The FEI are imposing these costs to prevent prefixes being used for 'commercial' reasons. Doing this punishes producers that provide an important link between the breeders and the riders who, provide a valuable shop window for their horses.

We are asking for the FEI to review Article 138 and stop the additional charging of FEI books where the horse's name carries a prefix other than that of the breeder.
