Tax waiver for Joseph Schooling's MAP award & all future MAP awards

Joseph Schooling's historic feat at the Rio Olympics needs no further elaboration. The attention now is on his MAP award of S$1,000,000, of which S$200,000 goes to the sports council and another S$150,000 towards taxes.

The "investments" by his parents over the years is also not a secret. It surpasses the MAP award, the shortfall exacerbated by above mentioned fees and taxes.

The MAP award is not an income, but blood, sweat & toil! It's an "investment" by his parents without guaranteed returns! This "investment" goes beyond monetary terms. One of our national sailor had her home sold to self sponsor her dream.

I appeal to the government to waive taxes not only for Joseph Schooling MAP award, but also all MAP awards.

I also appeal to local corporations to flaunt your corporate leadership and step out to sponsor him in his future training. More critically, I appeal to such corporations to award him, one way or another, for helping the nation achieve the impossible dream!
