Woolworths poised to renege on SPC deal. Supermarket giant Woolworths is threatening to renege on a public commitment made two years ago to buy $70 million of locally grown fruit and tomatoes in tins, plastic jars and snack packs from Shepparton cannery SPC Ardmona. It wants to use cheaper tinned Italian tomatoes, and canned and processed fruit imported from China instead.
Let Woolies know that we won't buy it if they import it, so they are not going to make more money.
We, the undersigned, call on Woolworths to not renege on the PUBLIC COMMITMENT made with SPC Ardmona. We are willing and prepared to Blacklist all canned and processed fruit and tomatoes unless sold under the SPC label, this includes all own Select label.
