Bleach is a popular household cleaner, used in kitchens, bathroom, laundry rooms and other areas of the home. Typically made of a solution containing chlorine, liquid bleach can whiten fabrics and remove mold. And while it's great at reducing the number of germs and bacteria on surfaces, household bleach also emits fumes that can be dangerous when inhaled.

Inhaling bleach fumes can cause several health risks including damage or burning of the lining of the esophagus or lungs. That can lead to coughing, gurgling breathing sounds and trouble getting enough air. These symptoms can be mild, moderate or severe depending on the amount of exposure and your respiratory health. People with asthma, COPD and other chronic respiratory health issues may experience more exaggerated or severe symptoms and/or have a lower tolerance to bleach fumes.

Fumes can also be trapped on skin that comes in direct contact with bleach. While these fumes are not typically as concentrated, they can still irritate eyes, nasal passages and the throat.

There is also a new TV Ad, in which a woman declares that "if you don't use bleach, then it is not clean". That is simply not true! There is a multitude of non-toxic cleaning products available in our modern age, that are both effective in cleaning and disinfecting.

A lot of people do not realize what they are doing by using Chlorine Bleach. You may say, "Well, I have used it for years and it has never effected my health." Are you sure about that? And what about your children, or your pets?

If people want to use it in their homes, and ruin the health of their family, then that is a personal choice. However, the use of Chlorine Bleach in public place should not be allowed. It is used in our grocery stores, restaurants, doctors offices, and hospitals. Just think of how many people can be unknowingly effect by this toxic substance.

Did you know that there is another type of Bleach that is Not toxic? It is a Bleach that has peroxide instead of Chlorine, and it has no smell or toxic fumes. You would be surprised just how many people never even heard of peroxide based bleach.

Chlorine Bleach is Toxic to Humans and Animals. It effects everyone who comes in contact with the fumes. Using Chlorine Bleach in the privacy of your own home, and risking yours and your family's health, is a personal choice. However, the use of Chlorine Bleach effect customers and hospital patients by the hundred. Please help by signing this petition, to stop the use of Chlorine Bleach in public places. Thank you. - Mrs. S.M. Randall-Friday
