Greater Amman Municipality has decided to stop the construction works once and for all, and enable the Department of Antiquities to make more excavations. This petition has played a significant role in formulating a public opinion that fosters the stop the erection of the water discharge box culvert that was planned in Al-Hashimi Street in downtown Amman. Thanks to GO PETITION that gave us this platform to promote this petition, and many thanks to H.M. King Abdullah II to whom the petition was raised.
قررت أمانة عمان الكبرى وقف الأعمال الإنشائية نهائياً وتمكين دائرة الآثار من إجراء المزيد من الحفريات. وقد لعبت هذه العريضة دورًا مهمًا في تكوين رأي عام يدعم وقف إنشاء قناة صرف المياه التي تم التخطيط لها في شارع الهاشمي وسط مدينة عمان. بفضل GO PETITION الذي منحنا هذه المنصة للترويج لهذه العريضة ، وشكرًا جزيلاً ل H.M. الملك عبد الله الثاني الذي رفعت إليه الالتماس.
The discovery of ancient Roman Baths in Amman during construction excavations to discharge rainwater is of great importance to the history of Amman. The removal of these ruins shall rip apart the ancient urban fabric and miss the opportunity to uncover the other remains like the Colonnaded Street which happens to exist in front of the Roman Theatre. The reconstruction of the site shall endorse the historic importance of Amman and raise its attractiveness.
