Over the last 3 years, the residence in Ellis House have been struggling to park their vehicles outside of their block. We were provided with enough spaces before the building of the Lindon Homes flats. During the building work most of our spaces were demolished without warning.

We have tried so hard to fight against this and build more spaces but there has been no authority from our local MP or the companies responsible. The residence are vulnerable. Some are too severely disabled and need Motability and some do not drive. A lot are trying so hard to improve their lives by getting support from the council financially until they find a job and start paying their rent. Most of them have got into work and knowing that they could afford one vehicle and get on with the way they want to live like most decent people.

This has made us feel that we are being used as cashcows or been discriminated. All we get told is that it will get worse.
Most of us have been trying to sort it out by going to Hightown, who we rent to, Linden Homes and also the MP Anne Main. Not even Mrs Main will help with the struggle with us losing our sociality. All they were doing was forwarding on our comments and complaints to Pentlands Estate/ Galliford Try who maintain the land. Nothing has been done.
After the showroom office closed down we got 14 spaces back which got better until a residents saw a Car Park Management LTD CPM van come down and painted Visitor on 6 spaces which only allows anyone to park for 4 hours maximum stay.

There are staff who work for Hightown supporting the most vulnerable adults who have to have their cars in an emergency. This will put off anybody looking for a job for this company or some staff may not attend and quit because it is like they go to work to pay out rather then coming in.

As CPM is a private company so the wardens do not come down often enough to police the vehicles that should not be there or do not have a valid permit and make it easier for us. To make matters worse the private residence who are guaranteed a space in the secure underground car park take up our spaces. More and more around every two months are taking our spaces. Makes us think that they are fighting for spaces above ground.
The other rented residence are being issued with more permits and buying more cars.
A couple of residence have not one but four cars.
Most of the rented and buyers have been issued PCNs Parking Charge Notices from CPM and because private parking companies do not bother to enforce under a specific amount issued buyers are still parking. Buyers seem to prefer parking above ground not thinking about the vulnerable residence.
Even when parking tickets get issued it still does not move them.

We as the parking withdrawal victims, will eliminate the planning of the pharmacy as this means that more parking spaces will be taken from us. If it does go ahead, more vehicles will be parked along our curbs, more harassment from the private buyers and more incidents e.g. vandalism and anti social behaviour. For some of us we cannot keep our jobs without our vehicles.

We will carry on fighting to keep our permitted spaces and stop any future planning that will withdraw our spaces.

We will work together to take necessary action for the threats of life independence.
