Ordinance No. 9 of 2009: An ordinance authorizing the City to close the at-grade railroad crossings of the UPRR (Union Pacific Railroad) at Wyngate Boulevard located between Valleyview Drive, and Woodmont Street and Malcolm Street located between Corbitt, Midway Avenue, and otherwise providing with respect thereto. (B/Walford/D/Wooley/E/Webb/F/Shyne)
This ordinance states that the above mentioned 2 streets will be blocked and permanently closed to traffic.
We, the undersigned, call on the City of Shreveport to cease and dismiss City Ordinance 9 of 2009, which calls for the permanent closure of the UPRR located at Wyngate Blvd & Woodmont Place and also at Vivian & Mansfield Road.
These closures are an inconvience to the residents and the local businesses. It is time consuming, costly, requires further driving to get to a location on the other side of the track, and henders the response time of Emergency Personnel (i.e. Police, Fire, EMT's).
