A self storage company is seeking a variance and exception of zoning on land at the end of East Knable Road. The land is zoned multi family residential and is part of the Edwardsville Gateway Project. The Gateway project's goals are; preserving the community's real character, protecting its natural beauty and rural integrity, creating a community identity and a stronger historical core to make the area more attractive to visitors and potential residents and businesses alike.

We believe that the construction of a 3.5 acre self storage compound is in direct opposition to this vision and would permanently scar the landscape severely limiting future growth and most certainly lowering property value of the surrounding real estate.

Self storage units are notoriously related to higher crime rates, attracting not just theft but increasing the risk of other illegal activities. Installing such a unit at the blind end of a dead end road more than increases the likelihood of such illegal activity; It invites it.

There will be a public meeting August 14, 2017 at 6pm at Pineview Government center, 2524 Corydon Pike.
If you are interested in preserving the integrity and safety of our neighborhood and rural community,

We the undersigned call on the Floyd County plan commission and zoning board to deny the development standard variance FC – 07–17 D-22 and the special exception FC – 07–1 7–23 sought by Self Storage Consultants LLC at the public hearing on August 14, 2017
