To check out what I am saying is the truth, just go to a Calculate your Council Tax website, enter the details asked for. Just make out you are pensioners living as a couple. Put in you are pensioners with income of 12000pds per annum and do the same with 14000pds per annum. See how the benefit reduces One more thing, you will have to insert you are an owner occupier with no mortgage, and no other income except a pension.
We the undersigned want a stop to councils claiming every year they have frozen Council Tax again.For pensioners living as a couple on less than 15,000pds p.a. this is simply not true and very annoying.
As Council Tax benefit is based on income, every time there is an increase in their pension, the Council grab a large chunk of it by reducing Council Tax benefit. This only happens to the poorest. This has happened to me every year for the last 4 years. How is it a freeze for the millions of pensioners affected?
