Please take a stand against anti-immigration hostility. Residents of NJ Legislative District 33 (Weehawken, Hoboken, Union City and parts of Jersey City) please consider signing this petition. Dear Senator Stack,

As a group of citizens in legislative district 33, we are greatly concerned with the anti-immigration hostility which is being fomented by President-elect Trump.

First, we want to thank you for joining forces with local Mayors and denouncing the apprehension or detention of our area's unauthorized immigrants. We vigorously oppose this and any other state-sanctioned discrimination in the form of a Muslim registry, mass deportation and a wall with Mexico.

We'd like to hear from you about your other efforts to bring our diverse community together. There is a golden opportunity for elected officials and community leaders to act right now.

Your public safety campaign “If you see something, say something” has been such a success due to a synchronized dissemination of public information and resources. This directive policy and approach should also apply to any discrimination that is witnessed in our neighborhoods.

We’re interested in taking specific positive steps forward at this time. In this spirit, we would support a community forum for the purposes of civil discourse and cultural understanding, led by our local municipalities and interfaith ministers. We support any undertaking to unify our diverse and dynamic religious and ethnic
communities.

In this destabilizing time, we want to make our community stronger through alliances. We’re looking to you for steady leadership as we head into the unknown political landscape of 2017.
