Speed Humps For Graaff St

Many of the residents of Graaff Street, Villiersdorp would like speed humps to be built along the length of Graaff Street, as there are 2 Primary schools, one High school & one Playschool on this street. This means there is a large number of children walking to & from school at various times of the day.

We have 3 Stop streets on Graaff Street, but these are either disregarded, or do nothing to deter speeding vehicles on this road. Many people have young children who often play along or on the street, as well as elderly people & other people walking their dogs on this street & speeding vehicles pose a serious threat to their safety.

We think the most dangerous area is between the junction with Brink Street & the junction with Van Riebeeck, as this is where there is a blind rise & people tend to speed up coming down to the Stop street on Union Avenue. This is where the Playschool is situated, so we have very young children on foot in this area.

Again, between the Union Avenue Stop street & the DeVilliers-Graaf Primary & High schools, as there are several families with young children & people drive fast here as there is a long distance between the Union Avenue Stop street & the Ham street Stop street.
