The O’Farrell Government’s failure to stand up for ethical, licensed hunters against a barrage of deceitful and malicious campaigning by anti-hunting groups has been a great disappointment.
Premier O’Farrell’s immediate abolition of the NSW Game Council without notice or consultation was completely unnecessary, even in light of governance concerns raised in the Dunn Report, and the suspension of hunting on public land was also uncalled for.
At the very least, a smooth period of transition to a new system should have been implemented.
