The Bergen County Brady Chapter is launching a major effort to pressure Scott Garrett, NJ 5th, to support and vote for HR3411. The bill would expand background checks to require them for all gun sales, making it much harder for criminals, terrorists and the mentally ill to buy guns. We need your assistance to gather signatures from people in his district (list of towns below) and get them back to us by October 3rd. Our plan is to present a large number of signed petitions to Garrett’s office in Glen Rock in early October.
As you probably know, Scott Garrett has been a longtime foe of measures to reduce gun violence and has an A- rating from the NRA. What you may not know is that Garrett and his staff won’t even share his position on HR3411. Garrett is hiding from voters on this issue because he knows that his views are contrary to those of the vast majority of his constituents.
With our petitions from his constituents in hand, our plan is to engage in a sit-in during his office hours until we get an answer from him. Voters need to know that Garrett is hiding his dangerous and radical views from them.
We the undersigned request that our congressman, Scott Garrett of New Jersey’s 5th district, cosponsor, fully support, and vote in favor of HR 3411.
