Regina street 20th Ave E is a local residential street designed to accommodate only local residential traffic of no more than 900 pounds.
Since the opening of the new Doublas Park school, the Regina public school board has authorized the use of this local street as a route for 21000 kg school buses. This street was last paved in 1988.
The heavy buses have pounded the thin pavement on the street resulting in pavement breakage, dips and bumps in the street and subsequent vibration and shaking of homes along the bus route resulting in more rapid settling of homes.
We are requesting that the city of Regina Traffic Department and Regina Catholic and Public school boards stop bus use of 20th Ave E. except for only buses picking up children that are required to be picked up on these streets.
We are also requesting that Regina City Roadways Preservation dept arrange for pavement capping of our street immediately.
