Target:
Waterloo Region District School Board
Region:
Canada

Canada has made great strides in embracing multiculturalism. However in recent years there seems to be a movement toward completly forgeting Canadian tradition and culture in order to avoid excluding or offending any other culture.

We feel that it is unfair that in order to accomadate for another groups belief's and culture, we must completely sacrifice our own. the purpose of this petition is to bring our holidays back to school.

Specifically we want our childern to have the right to wear costumes on Halloween. we are not asking that the school board teach about Halloween, or force anyone to participate. We are just asking that our custom, be given the same respect as anyone elses.

We, the undersigned, call on the Waterloo Region District School Board to allow our children to wear costumes to school on Halloween in accordance with our long established customs and traditions.

The current policy of many Schools in the region to not allow costumes discriminates against our customs and beliefs and goes against the Board's strategic direction of embracing diversity and inclusion.
