Save our children’s ward.

We emphatically reject the recommended closure of three children’s wards in South West London, including Sunshine ward at Kingston hospital.

We believe that these closures of children’s services in SW London are motivated by the government’s demand for spending cuts of £370 million by 2016/17 – which will slash the local health service budget by 24%.

These closures mean the loss of 56 beds - health bosses and the government are playing accountancy with the lives of local children.

Defend all local NHS services.
These closures are part of a new wave of closures, cuts and “centralisations” across London’s health service. At St Helier’s, maternity and A&E are also to be shut down – putting massive pressure on those services at Kingston and other neighbouring hospitals. Wards are closing across the capital – all to pay down the bailouts for the bankers. We need to fight all cuts and closures to our local NHS services.

Our NHS is not for sale.
David Cameron’s government is committed to selling off hospital wards and breaking up the NHS. At Tolworth Hospital, already one ward is under threat of privatisation – and in Surrey, Richard Branson’s Virgin Healthcare already runs key NHS services, such as sexual health.

We say that the NHS is for patients, not for profit. The NHS should be a single, national service funded by taxation and owned by the people, not big business.
