The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime & The Metropolitan Police Service are currently reviewing their estates and Hornchurch is included in that review.
If we lose Hornchurch Police Station there will be no ‘face to face’ counter service in Hornchurch, Elm Park, South Hornchurch and Rainham and such dealings would have to take place in Romford, where there are no parking facilities for the public - even disabled drivers.
Since 1965 we have lost 5 Police Stations in all which means that Hornchurch is the ONLY operational Police Station in the southern half of our Borough and is central to our Borough boundaries.
Moreover, Hornchurch has custody cells which are used when Romford Police Station cells are full.
We, the undersigned, call upon the Mayor of London to ensure that Hornchurch Police Station is not closed and the land sold off as an outcome of the current review of the Metropolitan Police Service estates.
Closing Hornchurch PS is totally unacceptable to the residents of the southern half of Havering.
