The Feres Doctrine has been challenged and failed. The reason it was challenged was so that family members who lost loved ones in the Military by some unbelievable circumstances could have a fighting chance to get answers and or proof to the cause of death. How can someone who can consider themselves to be a Soldier, defender of our Country, defender for our Freedom, allow a law that doesn't let family members defend the death of their loved ones, and why wouldn't the people we call our Heros, the ones who we are supposed to feel safe with, not want to weed out the bad people in the military that call themselves Soldiers but are getting away with killing, raping, assaulting, covering up or even assisting with the harm to one of their own? How can we have a Military that says they are the protectors of America and the reason for our freedom but then turn around and have a law that doesn't allow family to fight for their loved one as the Military fights for us? More and more, deaths within our own Military is becoming way too familiar and families are starting to feel unsafe from the Military that is our safety net. It's understandable for the Feres Doctrine to go into effect when there is substantial enough evidence to a Soldier's death, but it's not fair for families not to have the right to fight deaths that Military will not answer for, give proof of, or even allow to be questioned. Just as every Soldier (Hero) fights for our freedom and our safety, it's contradictory that we have a law against family members being allowed to be the Soldier (Hero) and fight for answers, proof, and truth for those who fought to defend us and were killed, raped, assaulted, accused of committing suicide, etc.. in the hands of one of our own, without creditable info, proof, or answers. Family Members should have the right to aquire a Civilian Legal Attorney to get the answers they deserve in these situations and fight for justice if circumstances are proven to be false cause of death from the Military as well as servisemembers who have been assaulted, raped, harmed in any way and lived to tell about it but are afraid to alert Military about the incident. They should have the confidence to know if they do join the military or re-enlist, they will have the option to protect themselves in a harmful situation with every means possible, including Civilian. For all the wars and Countries, Rights, and Freedom these Soldiers have fought for us, Don't we at least owe them the right to fight for them?

We the undersigned, call on the U.S. Senate to revise the Feres Doctrine with a Claus that gives Soldiers and Family members the option to aquire civilian legal representation when a situation arises to bring harm to a service member without substantial evidence for the cause of the situation. In the case of death, rape, assault, false suicide, etc.. servicemembers and families should have the option to seek answers and or justice if there is reason for questioning or seeking for justice from the people connected to the incident. For all the wars, countries, and justice Soldiers have fought to protect our freedom, don't we owe it them to have the right to fight for them if need be?
