The President of the Republic of South Africa deemed it necessary that allegations of serious misconduct and maladministration with the affairs of Oudtshoorn Municipality, unlawful appropriation and expenditure of public money and property should be investigated by the Special Investigating Unit.
Delay in revealing the findings of the Investigating Unit results in the continuation of improper conduct and maladministration by officials and councellors.
It is therefore imperative that the Report by SIU is revealed without further delay in order to start with a cleaning up process which is long overdue.
We, the undersigned, call upon the presidency and parliament to heed the call of the local community to act swiftly and decidedly to bring an end to acts of maladministration which are detrimental to service delivery and which retard progress and attention to the needs of the people.
