#Residential Disputes
Target:
Department of Agriculture
Region:
Bahamas

We the community members of the Bahamas Agriculture and Research Center (BARC) are in petition to request that: Shive Terrance Newbold is allowed to reside in the government appointed home which he repaired in the BARC Community.

This request is being made due to the fact that homes are leased by the government for persons who wish to farm and more importantly because the person of whom the house was leased to has deceased for more than 10years; since his passing there has not been any farming on the land.

The home was rented to Haitian immigrants by the son of the prior leasee whom later destroyed the building below livable conditions. However, for the past 2 years Mr. Newbold and his family was rented the house; after moving into the home he and his family made tremendous repairs to the home such as repairs to the leaking roof, the bathroom, replacing broken windows, retiling portions of the home and also replacing the doors just to name a few. Repairs to this extent were not free and neither was it cheap. Since, the home has been repaired to living conditions the son of the prior owner whom rented the house has evicted Mr. Newbold and his family.

In BARC we are a community and we would like to request that Mr. Newbold and his family be allowed by the government to remain in the home since his interest is in farming and also because he has made tremendous repairs to the home.

We, the undersigned, call on the Department of Agriculture to lease Shive Terrance Newbold a home in the BARC Community for farming.
