Repeal The Restrictions Of Ball Pythons and Boa Constrictors in Tillsonburg

In Towns spread across Ontario Bylaws have been put in place out of theoretical fears which restrict the Ownership and Husbandry of Any Python or Boa exceeding 24 inches. A Length easily obtained within the 1st month or 2 of these species lives.

Since 1978 Less than 20 911 calls have been warranted by a pet snake attack in the United States Alone, and unlike the united states we have no place displaying a climate in which either of these species could "Thrive" in the wild and become a potential Invasive Threat, similar to what's happening in the Florida Everglades.

Instead our bylaws were put into place after an attack from a nearly 5 meter long Burmese Python on its owner in Brampton, and then heightened after the tragic loss of 2 young boys in New Brunswick. Both Incidents involved species that exceed 4 meters . 1 Burmese Python and 1 African Rock Python, all but 1 of the Deaths Caused by Pet Snakes in the U.S between 1978 and 2016 were also caused by these Breeds which again exceed 4 meters in length. A Ball Python does not reach a size in which it would be Physically Capable of Killing a Human Being Nor has it EVER happened in the history of the world. Boa Constrictors get to a maximum size between 6 ft and 10 ft Generally with extreme rare cases of reaching 12 - 14 ft. Even if you compare by % in captivity the rate of attacks between dogs in general and boas and ball pythons would suggest you are at least 20 x more likely to get fatally attacked by a pet dog of almost Any Breed. since 1978 on Average 6- 10 people are Fatally injured by dog attacks Anually. So Why am I talking about Dogs? To Prove To You that there is substantial evidence to support my claim that the bylaws Restricting these Proven Docile-Natured Constrictors are entirely driven by theoretical fear, and not evidence of them being dangerous . Or animals which are proven to be at least 10x more dangerous such as canines would be restricted as well.

Also I believe with such evidence displayed it would be fair for me to say that we have banned these species because they have Larger More Capable and Dangerous Cousins such as Burmese Pythons and African Rock Pythons . Would you ban a House Cat because Tigers are dangerous? . Would you ban a Golden Retriever because Wolves Are Potentially Dangerous? No. You Wouldn't , because that would be ridiculous. Then why have we banned Ball Pythons and Boas which have proven to be much more docile and less likely to even Attempt to hurt you then virtually ANY BREED OF DOG ? Recognize that these Bylaws are Damaging even to the welfare of the lives of these animals by restricting the husbandry and ownership , you prevent those who care for them to find the appropriate veterinary services for these creatures when they desperately need it. There Is No Logical Concrete Reason for banning these Docile Creatures and Such Bylaws Should Be Repealed Immediately.
