2016-2017 Dress code is the strictest code in our district since late 1960's to early 1970's, when a mother went to the school board because her daughter was sent home from school for wearing jeans instead of a dress. Pana is a poor community and the financial strain caused by this new dress code will be devastating for already strained families. Like nothing too tight or too loose, because not every girl weights 125 lbs and won't lose or gain 1 pound all year, so the student's family has to buy new clothes. Or like, no holes at all and student gets a hole in the knee, those parents have to buy yet another pair of jeans.

Female students treated as every girl is proportionally the same, is wrong, because not every girls limbs are the same length.. We are all different shapes and sizes and we should be embracing our teens differences. Our teachers and students are more distracted by this new dress code by drawning more attention to body parts and undergarments than before... A student was told they could see the outline of their underwear, by a teacher, the student was wearing slacks. I, as a professional, see many panty lines and do not think of them as obscene or disruptive to the work place.

These teen girls called in to the office are feeling humiliated and trying to defend themselves. I believe in empowering our teen girls and shaming them, to cover up, because their skin distracts the boys, is not the right way.. Let's teach our young men to respect women and it would be a win win.

There are parents who fought this same strict dress codes in their districts and won. We can too!

I, as a tax payer and/or parent of a Pana High School Student, want a repeal of the new dress code.

I believe that the new code is causing a distraction from education by faculty and students. Female students are losing class time because they are being taken out of the classroom and /or sent home.

I believe this new dress code will cause financial distress on families in our community. I believe our schools should be more concerned with high quality education than looking for panty lines on our teen girls.
