For those who are unaware, Freshman residents are now allowed to have their cars on campus. To some it may not be a big deal. To many commuters and residents, this decision has created havoc in some parking lots. Students have to search endlessly to find a spot since Freshman were told to park in the D lot. However, they have not only stuck to D lot, but have taken spots reserved for Village residents and spots commuters can use.

Commuter Affairs explained that Public Safety is supposed to try and help control this congestion throughout the day, but have yet to be seen doing so. The director also stated that on October 1st, Freshman will be parking by their residence halls. After that, Freshman will not only be taking up spots in the commuter and Village spots, but also spots reserved for upperclassman students in Bischoff, Mackin, and the parking garage, or wherever they can find parking.

Freshman will be taking up parking spots of the students who have waited their turn to have their cars on campus. This decision should be revoked and should go back to the way it was when Freshman had to request special permission to have their cars on campus. This school is too small to allow every student a car on campus. It makes parking and crowding a bigger issue than it should be for students at this school.
