In light of the tragic events in Charlottesville, we wish for the city to remove Confederate Statue for William W Loring from Park and rename Loring Park.

William W Loring is a Confederate General, the Confederacy is a symbol of racism and division. With the increase of violence and hate groups, we the statue should be moved to a less prominent location in St Augustine.

The Confederacy is a symbol of racism and St Augustine has deep roots in the Civil Rights history. Majority of African Americans relocated after the passing of the 1964 Civil Right Acts due to the pressure of the white supremacists groups resent of St Augustines role in the passing. Florida Memorial College relocated and the African America population drop fro 25% to 4%. The City of St Augustine needs to fix this wrong and the first step is taking down this statue. The remains of William Wing Loring should be relocated to the St. Augustine National Cemetery. The statue can be given back to the Daughters of the Confederacy.

We also request the park be renamed to the Robert B Hayling park. This is the RIGHT thing to do.
