Two HUGE Rivals, 7th Grade Lockhart Lions and the Bastrop Bears who were both undefeated when they took the field last night in Cedar Creek at the Memorial Stadium, were robbed of a fair fight last night on account of lightning. Per the UIL rules, "When thunder is heard within 30 seconds of a visible lightning strike, or a cloud-to-ground lightning bolt is seen, the thunderstorm is close enough to strike your location with lightning. Suspend play for thirty minutes and take shelter immediately.." "Postpone or suspend activity if a thunderstorm appears imminent before or during an activity or contest (irrespective of whether lightning is seen or thunder heard) until the hazard has passed." Bastrop hosted this game and before any lightning was seen or heard, they CANCELLED the game with no 30 min delay to give these boys a fair fight. Please sign this petition so we can turn it into the UIL Director of Athletics to give our boys a game they can finish till the whistle blows!

We, the undersigned, call on the University Interscholastic League to review the order of events that called the game last night to end in the 3rd quarter, with no postponed game mentioned. We would like Lockhart and Bastrop schools to agree to another game hosted in Lockhart.

The Rematch for Lockhart Lion Jr. High A Team Vs. Bastrop Bears petition to Texas UIL Athletic Directors and Both Lockhart and Bastrop ISD was written by Ashlie Garcia and is in the category Football at GoPetition.
