Reinstatement of Dr Edgill

We the Aboriginal community do hereby formally submit this petition for the re-instating of Dr Paula Edgill immediately. It has come to the attention of patients and community that an outstanding member of the staff who provides the most culturally secure and holistic health care for them has been terminated.

Dr Edgill’s provision of health care has had a profound effect on the chronic disease management. Many will attest to the fact that her attention to detail and thorough analysis of their health needs and the subsequent treatment plans have gone some way to ensuring a quality of life that might not have existed had she not played a part in the ongoing care required.

The Aboriginal community demands transparency and good governance to ensure that our Aboriginal health professionals have access to a conducive environment where they can excel to be at the forefront of Indigenous health and its delivery.

The community are desirous of an Aboriginal doctor to assume the position of Senior Medical Officer on the grounds of cultural maintenance and security as well as best practice. Furthermore the organisation should implement succession plans for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander professionals to cement the sustainability of the service into the future.

The organisation is on notice that the financial members will be seeking to call a special general meeting to address the unresolved issues and concerns raised by staff and the Chairperson of the Board of Directors.
