For many years the residents of Industry Street, Walkley, Sheffield and surrounding streets such as Greenhow Street, Hoole Road, Carr Road and South Road have been plagued by an excess amount of cars parked due to Andrew Flowers Garage, and in addition including at least 4 courtesy cars owned by the garage.
Frequently work has also been carried out on the street - which has been documented and passed onto the Council. Whilst some action has been taken this still occurs on a reasonably frequent basis.
The above problems have resulted in excess noise pollution, especially during the summer months, and residents regularly being unable to park when compared with other streets away from the garage in Walkley. Additionally, phone calls being taken outside on the street and shouting / revving engines has created additional noise pollution.
Local business is a good - but Andrew Flowers Garage need to recognise the detrimental effect they have on their local area, and take, or be forced to take, some responsibility for this.
Examples would include:
* Limiting the amount of cars parked to an agreed auditable amount (between residents and the garage)
* Not parking business vehicles (such as EuroCarParts) on the streets.
* Purchasing some additional private land to park cars on
* Encourage staff to use other means of transport to travel to work, or car-sharing.
* Encouraging staff to take all phone calls within the premises and not to shout up and down the street.
We, the undersigned, call on the Sheffield City Council to regulate the use of street parking facilities by Andrew Flowers Garage on Industry Street, Walkley, Sheffield and surrounding streets, to ensure that the practice of occasional on-street working is stopped and that noise-levels from shouting and engine revving are kept to a minimum.
