NLP action against William Weld

Libertarian Party Vice Presidential candidate William Weld has demonstrated clearly that he is far more concerned with helping to get Hillary Clinton elected as President of the United States, than to support his running-mate Gary Johnson, or to promote the platform and ideals of the Libertarian Party.

While this has been somewhat evident throughout the campaign, it became completely obvious during a nationally televised interview conducted by Rachel Maddow on 11/1/2016, and aired nationally on the Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC. Instead of concentrating on why the Libertarian Party ticket was the best choice for America, he spent 90% of the interview either bashing Donald Trump, or extolling the competence and moral integrity of Hillary Clinton. In addition, he at no point raised any criticisms of the statist Democratic Party platform or the proposed policies of Hillary Clinton. He could not even bring himself to say that his running-mate Gary Johnson would be a superior President to Hillary Clinton, but could only describe him as "competent." For all intents and purposes, William Weld endorsed Hillary Clinton for President of the United States.

We, the delegates of the 2016 Libertarian Party Convention, hereby petition the Libertarian Party National Committee to immediately remove William Weld as the nominee of the party for the office of Vice President of the United States of America. We ask that he be replaced immediately by 2nd place Vice Presidential candidate Larry Sharpe. Should Mr. Sharpe decline, we ask that the Committee to go down the list of top finishing candidates for Vice President (from 3rd until bottom) until a willing candidate accepts the nomination. If none of the previous candidates accept the nomination, we request that the Committee, in its discretion, select any willing member of the Libertarian Party in good standing, and who qualifies for the office of Vice President of the United States, to fill the nomination spot.

We believe that it is important for the health and well-being of the Libertarian Party for the National Committee to take this action immediately. Besides ridding our party of a candidate whose only purpose was to use his place on the Presidential ticket for his own purposes, immediate action will demonstrate to the entire Nation that the Libertarian Party is a party of principle and not a party of "politics as usual."
