Workers Compensation in Saskatchewan is in need of an independent review. The system is not working for those with chronic pain syndromes or other life changing injuries.
The interference with our medical treatments by workers compensation must be put to and end. Justice delayed is justice denied.
We the undersigned call upon the government of Saskatchewan to take all the necessary actions required for real reforms of workers compensation. These reforms should be the repeal of the section of the Workers Compensation act that exempts the injured worker from the Canada Health Act as this can be perceived to reduce the citizens rights of the injured worker.
Immediately remove the ability of the workers compensation board from any and all interference with the medical treatment and recovery of the injured worker. The primary care physicians diagnosis should be paramount and not be changed by a in house workers compensation medical officer.
An independent appeals process should be immediately established as soon as possible. Direct interference from workers compensation to influence the outcome of appeals should be restricted. The medical evidences should speak for themselves and given the most weight in a decision.
These are just a few things that are in need to be immediately addressed by the Saskatchewan Government.
