A couple of years ago the 539 bus service that linked Sowood to West Vale was reduced in its service and its end of line stopping at Bowling Green, from here it then returned to Halifax.
This reduction in service lead to the residents who relied upon public transport to access West Vale, the doctors surgery , shops and other amenities having to use taxi services which come at a much higher financial cost.
Out of 900 residents within Sowood, around 135 are over the age of 65 who rely more upon public transport, an age bracket where more people choose not to drive.
We would like to see this service re instated, not necessarily fully but at lease within certain times of the day or for just a number of days over the week.
We the undersigned request that a more adequate bus service is provided for the residents of Sowood, Outlane and upper Stainland, a service that can bring back the link between these areas and Westvale thus allowing easier access for residents to use vital services which they need plus once again opening a lifeline to the communities.
